David Langstaff

David H. Langstaff is President and Chief Executive Officer of TASC, Inc. In that role, David leads a team of 5,000 engineers, technologists, analysts and other experts who provide advanced system engineering, integration and decision-support services to the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense and civilian agencies of the federal government. TASC also maintains numerous engineering and research laboratories and manages a robust independent research and development program to establish and deliver mission-essential technologies and capabilities.
Before assuming the position of president and chief executive officer of TASC in March 2011, Langstaff had served as chairman of TASC’s board of directors since December 2009, when the company separated from Northrop Grumman Corporation.
Previously, Langstaff was president, chief executive officer and director of Veridian Corporation, from its formation in 1997 until its sale to General Dynamics in 2003. Veridian was regarded as one of the preeminent companies in national and homeland security with a strong values based culture; its IPO was recognized by the Financial Times as one of the 10 best global IPOs in 2002.
Langstaff has held several leadership and board positions with companies in the defense sector including SRA International, Inc., QinetiQ Group PLC, The Olive Group and Veridian’s predecessor companies. In 2009, he was named to the Defense Business Board, which provides independent advice to the secretary and deputy secretary of defense.
In addition, Langstaff is a senior seminar moderator on values-based leadership with The Aspen Institute. He serves as chairman of This I Believe, Inc., chairman of the Advisory Board for the Aspen Institute Business and Society policy program, and trustee of the Committee for Economic Development. He also sits on boards of other nonprofit organizations in the fields of the arts, education and environment.
Langstaff earned a B.A. in history from Harvard College, and an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
